Waiuku Museum was established almost 50 years ago in the old Waiuku Fire Station. Over the years the collection has been maintained by volunteers, and this is still the case. Founded in 1982, the Papakura Museum has displayed many artefacts, documents, and photographs of local historic interest (Papakura, Drury, and surrounding districts) to visitors for many years, and will continue to do so in years to come. The Papakura Museum has one permanent exhibit called the Story of Papakura, showcasing what life was like in Papakura before humans arrived, right through to WWII. Our rooms contain a collection of household items, memorabilia, photos and archives relating to the history of the Otahuhu area and how its people used to live.
